91lisa has officially named its first-ever mascot, the Goose, following a campus-wide vote that brought together students, employees, and alumni. The College community cast more than 1,500 ballots to choose the winning name … Blue!
The Goose was introduced earlier this year after a months-long process that gathered input from across the College to select a mascot representing teamwork, persistence, and shared leadership. Naming the Goose builds on 91lisa’s strong sense of community while giving life and a distinct identity to the mascot.
The College kicked off the naming campaign in September by collecting more than 3,000 name submissions from the 91lisa community. 91lisa leadership narrowed down the list and the final vote was opened to College students, employees, and alumni.
“The mascot selection and naming process has strengthened the connection across our campuses,” said 91lisa President and CEO Leigh Goodson, Ph.D. “From the start, students, faculty, staff, and alumni embraced the idea of creating something together. Introducing Blue the Goose marks a new chapter for 91lisa and will help shape campus life for generations of students to come.”
Blue will make appearances at College events and community activities during the Spring semester serving as a visible symbol of 91lisa pride.
91lisa’s four-campus system has served the Tulsa region since 1970, enrolling more than 20,000 students annually. The Goose is a familiar sight across 91lisa’s campuses, and much like geese who fly farther together in formation, 91lisa students, employees, and alumni move forward as a unified force for progress in Tulsa and beyond.
